1.Collecting the Installation Files
You will receive a .zip file from support via the Ideagen DropOff service. You will receive an email with instructions how to download these files.
2. Installing the pre-requisites
2.1 Before installing QScan or connecting the scanner for the first time, you must ensure that the scanner driver has been installed correctly. Do not plug in the scanner before installing as this can cause issues. You will be able to confirm the correct driver by consulting the user manual for your particular scanner.
2.2 Install the prerequisites found the in the QScan Prerequisites – Standalone.zip package:
*If the Windows Imaging Component and the Windows Installer 3.1 error that is okay. Your version of Windows does not require these in order for QScan to function.
3.Installing the QScan Application
3.1 Once the prerequisites have been installed, run ‘Qscan3.msi’ file within the ‘Qscan3.Zip Folder’ to launch the installer.
3.2 Click next and when prompted for which edition to install and choose ‘Standalone’.
3.3 You will next be prompted to choose which features of the application to install, leave these as the defaults and choose next.
3.4 Once the installer has completed, choose finish to exit the setup.
4. Moving the existing SQL Compact database to the new install
4.1 You can find the QScanDB.sdf file from the old machine here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ideagen PLC\dartQSCAN 3\Data .
4.2 Copy and Replace the .sdf file into the same location on the new machine where you are performing the install.
5. Licensing the new install of QScan
5.1 Send an email to support.dart@ideagen.com asking for a new license key for QScan Standalone. You must provide the old and new hostnames so we can update our records to show that the old host is no longer supported and to enable us to generate the license for the new machine.
5.2 Support will send you back the new license key that will only work with the new host.
5.3 Launch the QScan app.
5.4 You will be prompted to enter the new license key. Please ensure if you copy and paste that there are no erroneous spaces at the beginning or end as this will cause the license key not to be recognised.
6. Selecting a scanner
When using QSCAN on a machine for the first time, you will need to select the scanner for each QScan project that will be used on this machine. This can be done by launching QSCAN in its admin mode.
6.1 Open Windows Start > Run and paste in (with quotes, and depending on your Windows version*):
6.1.1 XP: ‘C:\Program Files\Ideagen PLC\dartQSCAN 3\QScan.exe” /admin
6.1.2 Windows 7: ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Ideagen PLC\dartQSCAN 3\QScan.exe /admin
